“Our scheme for the Library and Student Services Centre at Royal Holloway called for a façade with the material richness and bespoke detailing worthy of its prominent, Grade I listed setting. A diverse palette of materials including folded perforated bronze, anodized aluminium, terracotta baguettes, ceramic granite and expansive glazing and rooflights are brought together with crisp detailing around what is a complex building form. Collaborating with Colorminium on this project was enjoyable and rewarding – their expertise and commitment both pre- and post-tender has helped deliver a strikingly high-quality façade which we are extremely pleased with.”
I would like to use this opportunity to thank Colorminium personally for their great efforts on the Sloane Street project. The built quality of the finished building speaks for itself and quite a lot of it is due to the skills of the Colorminium team.
Thank you in particular to Philip for his all his help, knowledge and diligence and, of course, for his boundless patience with the architect.
Thank you also to Nick Thomas, Tony Warren and their site team for their great efforts in keeping this on the ‘straight and narrow’ and achieving some fantastic built details!
It’s been a great pleasure working with all of you and I hope I will do so again soon!
Our goal from the outset was to ensure the consultant design fitted with our buildability process and came within the cost plan parameters set out by our client. Colorminium took to this brief in a very professional way and on behalf of the whole client team, it was a total success.
Your early engagement in the design process was exemplary and your understanding and leading of the key design interfaces enabled a level of design fixity to be obtained early in the process – not just for your package, but also other key trades. A quality submission from the beginning was quickly followed with comprehensive technical submissions, clear project processes and sequencing, clear lists of commercial advantages/value engineering and through it all, good integration into our team.
It was a new idea for the Mace team, but one I would have no hesitation in repeating following the success of it. Bringing you in alongside the consultant team as an experienced, qualified and competent partner ensured our contract process went smoothly and we formed an excellent relationship early on.
Colorminium have recently completed the installation of numerous curtain wall systems on the East Wing re-cladding project at Guy & St Thomas’ Hospital. The project consisted of re-cladding an existing building, which was required to be fully operational throughout. One elevation of the building, over-looking the Houses of Parliament, required the glazing to be hung from the existing roof due to basement obstructions in the ground. Colorminium’s designers worked closely with ISG and the Arup Facades team in developing a scheme that not only allowed the whole system to be hung from the roof, but also to meet the tight logistical constraints on a live hospital project.
From the outset, Colorminium’s approach demonstrated a proficient knowledge of the curtain wall systems in order to satisfy building movement issues, tolerances of the existing building, fire strategy and exacting aesthetic quality. As well as the main hung elevation to the hospital wing, Colorminium also provided a number of other glazing solutions to the existing facade that included curtainwall ‘strip’ windows, glazing and cladding to a bridge structure and replacement windows. Throughout the project and on the different curtain wall packages, Colorminium proved to be a very competent contractor and not only delivered a quality product, but also managed to keep to the strict programme.
With their experienced site manager on site 100% of the time all their work was controlled in a safe and diligent manner, which led to Colorminium receiving the monthly Health and Safety award on numerous occasions.
I would not hesitate to use Colorminium on any of my forthcoming projects and look forward to working with the team in the near future.
Colorminium undertook for us a very prestigious project at the Welcome Trust’s Genome Campus in Cambridge. The scope of their work included curved and facetted cladding, brise soleil and the curtain walling installation all of which was geometrically complex, of high quality specification and very challenging.
From the outset their designers worked closely with our Architects to develop the design and consider the tolerances achievable in the underlying structure. Working with our site construction team, they maintained and enhanced this relationship with very high quality work being produced with little in the way of disagreements or problems that were not amicably overcome.
We are very pleased with the way Colorminium have worked and the end result is of the highest quality.
On behalf of ISG I’d like to thank you all at Colorminium for the excellent project delivery at Guys & St Thomas’ Hospital.
Considering the complexity of the unitised scheme, and delivering in a live hospital environment, we couldn’t have wished for a better result. From design involvement right through to completion, your proactive approach was much appreciated and the finished product was to your usual highest standards.
We look forward to working with you on more of our subsequent high profile projects, and I will be in touch with you about them in the very near future.
