It was great networking with representatives from across the industry at the ‘Smarter Thinking Around the Future of Façades’ Breakfast last week.

We discussed the challenges faced by the industry, sharing thoughts and ideas on the best approach to address today’s headwinds of material cost inflation and sustainability demands.

An excellent opportunity to collaborate and learn from others – truly appreciated the input of Aurélien Collignon of FORE, Richard Sansom of Landsec, Nick Ridout of Scott Brownrigg, Louise Tanner of Skanska, and Mark Cleverly of CPC. 

The topical discussion included:
•The growth of repositioning, refurbishment and EPC
•How the industry is stuck in what arguably could be described as a “Victorian” style process
•The Need for an R&D budget to allow for innovation on a project
•How important aesthetics are, especially when restoring heritage buildings in London
•The appeal of redesigned spaces vs new spaces and balancing the sustainability factor
