Inspired by it’s industrial past and built for the future, The Forge is the UK’s first net zero carbon commercial development which we were excited to have worked on alongside Landsec. Featuring two elegant buildings, offering best-in-class sustainable office space, it is set around a bright public courtyard in the heart of Southwark.

The new development will be the world’s first ‘kit of parts’ solution built on a P-DfMA structural frame.
Employed by Landsec we progressed the design, manufacture and installation of the street scene glazing and cladding package. The works are now complete and this building achieves the client’s vision of leading sustainable office space, providing for the wellbeing of its community.
Working closely with the JV delivery partners, the design is focused on a slab infill glazing system formed from traditional stick curtain walling with high performance glazing. In solid zones, SFS is used to create the solid wall build up with composite cladding and GRC as a finishing material.
The main office reception area incorporates revolving doors and architectural glazing giving a fitting entrance to the scheme.
A louvre package at roof level to mask the plant areas with associated architectural metalwork and balustrading is a fitting component to the package and this was managed by the same team.
The drive by Landsec to maximise efficiencies in materials, programme and construction was approached by using a repeatable, manufactured kit of parts from analysis of a number of office schemes. The façade is a major component in this exercise and the completed building is testament to a new way of working.
