Located in one of the most iconic and highly sought after addresses in London, Carlton House Terrace is an exclusive development formed by the John Nash designed grand houses fronting The Mall and St James’s Park, and residential flats facing Waterloo Gardens to the west. This commercial build will introduce a future-proofed office environment that promotes a healthy workspace, inspiring collaboration and creativity and in turn, caters for a post-pandemic market.

Employed directly by client from a very early stage, we have worked closely with the team to develop the design, with heavy focus on ESG and the aspiration of achieving the intent whilst respecting the cost plan. Due to the nature of the re-positioned scheme, it was essential the façade was developed in tandem with the structural design due to the complexities of adapting an existing frame.
The project comprises some very interesting detailing including a large stonework package which we were tasked to match in with the existing portland stone. The scheme is gifted with a number of different façade treatments including proprietary windows/doors to complex bespoke structural glazing.
With a successful planning consent in place, we were given the parameters to work within and were able to agree the design principles for all the main façade types, alongside providing the client with the certainty commercially, well in advance of the typical procurement process. With works underway and the progression of this scheme moving at a rapid pace, we aim for completion by mid-2024.
