This stunning 80,000 sq ft building known as BY1, is part of the Bankside Yards redevelopment project, adjacent to the Thames in Southwark. With the construction of some of the buildings on the scheme already underway, BY1, has just received planning approval.

Employed by Native Land during the Stage 2 design stage, prior to planning submission, we were engaged to undertake our Façade Strategy service.
We were given a clear brief to challenge the project both from a buildability and design perspective, especially considering for the carbon targets, proximity of the building to the railway and it’s neighbouring developments and speed of delivery.
Adopting a sympathetic approach to the design intent, we were able to table a range of different options, along with their respective cost, carbon, programme and aesthetical impacts. The effect of our optioneering on the development through our Façade Strategy service, has resulted in significant cost savings and programme gains.
